Sure glad this didn't happen exactly one year ago! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19406288/
MEYERS, Calif. - A wind-whipped wildfire destroyed at least 165 homes and other structures and scorched close to 2,000 acres just southwest of Lake Tahoe on Sunday, fire officials said...
The fire has also forced the closure of Highways 50 and 89 leading into the area, according to the California Department of Transportation. Both routes are now being used to evacuate residents...
(For those who didn't drive in from the south, last year, Meyers is a wide spot in the road where 89 and 50 meet only about 5 miles south of the Y where they split again, which is just south of the subdivision our cabins were in.)
ETA Residents and campers sought shelter at evacuation centers in South Lake Tahoe and at the homes of friends and the many hotels in the area. Many evacuees huddled in parking lots in the cold night as ashes rained down.
