Football follies

It ain't over yet.

Just when we thought it was safe to get back in the Big 12 pool... Texas has agreed to give up all of it's extra TV-deal perks, except for the Longhorn Network. In return Texas would get a six-year commitment that no other schools will bolt. (The penalties would be massive.) That seems to be okay for Oklahoma and probably quite good enough for Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Baylor. But according to the Kansas City Star and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Missouri is saying not so fast. No telling whether Missouri has a real offer or it's just a bluff to get a better deal. But I think it's possible that the Big 12 may find itself with only eight teams from this year in the conference next year. I think the conference absolutely will survive, now. I just don't know if Missouri will be in it.
