Current scam
I just got the second scam caught by my answering machine in a couple weeks. The first one was the old one - your Microsoft license is expiring and you need to call xxx-xxx-xxxx about it. The one today was - your computer protection package is expiring, we are going to deduct $xxx.xx from your account to renew it. If you want to cancel you must call xxx-xxx-xxxx.
A much more inspired scam, except that it uses the exact same female voice as the first and the same one they have been using for a variety of scams for years. So if you've had a phone for awhile you are not likely to fall for it.
I've never thought automatic deduction payment/renewal plans benefited the end user, and now with scammers moving to target people who do use them, I'm not going to change my mind any time soon.
