Furthest away from home you have ever been?
Moscow
Do you wear jewelry?
No. It was dangerous to wear anything but a watch (like rings, chains etc.) where I worked in high school and much later. I wore my class ring, senior year, to high school, but nothing since.
Is there anyone you wish you never met?
There have been people I really didn't like, but it's never gone to that extreme.
Has the electricity ever gone out when you were at school or work?
Yes, but the power has been pretty robust away from home. I don't remember it going off when I was a student or a teacher. I think the time or two it went off at work at the machine shop, we all decided to be janitors and began cleaning and straightening. I think there was only once we ran out of things to do and were sent home before the power came back.
What’s the latest you have ever stayed out?
Probably 2:00 a.m. for a midnight movie in college. I guess several of us stayed all night at a Vietnam War protest, but the girls and guys in my group of six quit chatting and all tried to sleep on blankets on the grass.
Do you put ketchup on top of your French fries or on the side?
On the side, I don't like soggy fries. (Wouldn't care for poutine, either)
What is the first song that comes to mind right now?
"Oh dear, what can the matter be?" Well, they asked for the first one, not the latest hit!
Would you rather live without music or without the TV
I don't listen to music much, but often have it in my head. I've lived mostly without TV in my college and grad school years, so I guess without TV.
Do you like orange juice?
I grew tired of it as a kid. It's okay, I don't hate it, but I prefer grapefruit juice, and I like tangerines better than whole oranges.
Cookie Cutter Day: Do you own any cookie cutters? Any unusual ones? Tell us about them.
No, my mother had the usual set of Christmas ones that were never used as far back as I can remember.
Play Basketball Day: Have you ever played basketball?
Yes, I was a decent guard as a junior and senior in gym class. I preferred playing it to watching.
Make a Gift Day: Do make gifts for anybody? How about cards?
Not since it was a class project in first grade. I don't think what I'd make today would be presentable.
Lost and Found Day: Have you ever lost something important to you and thought you would never get it back, but then you found it or someone returned it to you?
Yes.
Christmas Card Day: Do you send Christmas/holiday cards? How many do you send? Do you receive many cards?
I get complaints if I don't send my Christmas letter. My list has shrunk to about ten, but very few of them send anything back before Christmas these days.
World Choral Day: Have you ever sung in a choir?
Yes, in grade school I failed the audition for the school choir from shyness, but was added when the music teacher walked by me singing with the whole class. I passed the audition in junior high, but was stuck standing in the choir beside a guy whose tremolo was so bad he was in tune only about half the time.
Roast Chestnuts Day: Have you ever made or eaten roast chestnuts?
Yes. My brother bought some and we roasted them in the oven. They taste like sweet potatoes to me. My brother liked them, I didn't.
Look for an Evergreen Day: Are there many species of evergreens where you live?
Surprisingly, yes. Even ignoring cacti, most yards here have evergreen plants that grow natively like palms, sages and yuccas as well as evergreens from Australia that do well here.
– Go Caroling Day: Have you ever been caroling? Are there any groups in your neighborhood who go caroling at this time of year?
Yes, we did it once in college. Haven't seen it anywhere since.
Don't Make Your Bed Day: Were you brought up to make your bed every day? Do you make your bed every day?
Yes, my mother wanted me to. No, I didn't get the habit. Here in Arizona I don't have a blanket, comforter or bed spread on the bed about eight months a year and sleep on top of the sheets those months, so it would be mostly a waste of my time.
Mathematics Day: Were you good at mathematics in school? How much of the math/s you learned in school do you use in your everyday life now?
I was very good at math till I took Analytic Geometry in college and my dyslexia/dysgraphia made a mess of things while writing equations that went on forever. I used my math quite a bit in my work, still use it occasionally without thinking about it now.

what are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, and description.
what are your writing weaknesses?
I have trouble thinking up stories. I can make up plots till the cows come home, but making them into a complete story is hard for me.
thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
It's pretentious for a writer of anything but sci-fi these days, but fun as a reader when you know what's being said. Writing what you know is one thing; pulling something from a phrase book to add color to your exotic location is a good way to get laughed at by someone who knows the language better.
