1. What Are Your Favorite Viral Videos?
I like videos, but viral ones generally are more for teenagers, I think. I found out my 50 year old nephew was watching the same creator I do. Is that viral?
2. Should a College Education be Free?
We can safely blame our politicians for how ridiculously expensive college/university education is. Republicans don't want to pay for health care, Democrats think businesses/employers should pay for it all, and guess what colleges and universities got classified as. Instead of offering group rate insurance to everyone like they did back in the day, now they have to buy it for everyone. So student loans are paying for health insurance for janitors and football coaches.
3. When Did You Last Have a Great Conversation?
Best one lately? On Zoom with a friend late last month.
4. How Do You Feel About Valentine’s Day?
It's a great time for little kids to expect candy. If you are young and in love it's a fine time to show your appreciation for your significant other. If none of those apply to you, it's just another day.
5. Is Shakespeare Too Hard?
My problem with Shakespeare is that the modern British stage accent and Shakespeare don't actually work together that well. It can take me a few scenes before I can understand anything that's being said. Then it get's better. A few years ago a company was performing Shakespeare in what they believed is the original accent. It was so much more understandable from the opening curtain, that it felt like a fog had lifted. It might be the opposite for someone from the UK these days.
6. Are You the Same Person on Social Media as You Are in Real Life?
Yes. More or less.
7. Does Punctuation in Text Messages Matter?
Yes, but I don't send or receive that many of them.
8. Where Do You See Yourself in 10 Years?
At my age you don't look forward that far. You're glad you feel okay today, and hope you'll feel well again tomorrow.
9. Do You Speak a Second, or Third, Language?
Yes, Russian, but I haven't spoken it in ages. I watch some videos in Spanish and can understand them quite well if I cut the playback speed down to 50%. ;o)
10. Did You Like School?
Absolutely. Junior high was pretty much torture, and I had a few crap teachers at other times. But otherwise, I always got enjoyment out of school.
11. Is It Harder to Grow Up in the 21st Century Than It Was in the Past?
I think there are more pitfalls these days. We had TV to waste our time. The generation before us had radio. These days cell phones with internet access are everywhere. Drugs are a lot more available now, but I admit I knew a kid back when who came to high school drunk a few times a week.
12. Have you ever made homemade soup? Care to share your favorite recipe?
Not really. Made additions to soup? Yep, lately I've prepared barley and added it to soup to make a heartier meal.
13. National Pizza Day. Have you ever made one from scratch - what are your favourite toppings?
Yes. Italian sausage, onions and black olives.
14. Do you own an umbrella or do you hate using them?
Not anymore. I moved to Arizona with one, but it so rarely rains steadily for more than a few minutes at a time, here, that it's not worth having one any more. Also you can walk a block or so through a light drizzle here and be perfectly dry at the end, because it evaporates as quickly as it falls. When it rains hard here you don't want to go out walking or driving anyway! Better to wait ten minutes, let it pass, and be a bit late.
