Don't you wish the big networks had some guts?

I was watching Heroes last night and enjoying it, but wishing for more than that. Masq was unhappy about getting fewer hits at ATPo. Imagine how different it would be if Heroes deserved her meticulous analysis? There's nothing wrong with Heroes it just doesn't come close to being as densely written, or as thoughtfully written. As long as what's going on is mysterious Heroes looks complex. But, once we know what's going on each thread can be summed up neatly in a few words. Nikki is an alcoholic. She had a sister who she's still psychically attached to who was the victim of domestic violence. Peter and his brother have always had the cloud of the mob over their heads. The politician's wife was injured as he unwittingly discovered his power. Sylar is a meticulous, wanna-be nut job. Don't you wish it would take pages of analysis to fathom what is going on instead?

Not-nano is coming to a happy end hopefully today. The best part of yesterday's work was going over the things I did when the going was the toughest and seeing that it wasn't the total crap it seemed to be when I was trying to put it down into the computer file.

For yesterday 1125 - For November 39,551 (total 49,145)

They copped out and gave Nikki the classic case of split personality; whenever Dad was abusing Nikki, she zoned out and "Jessica" appeared to take the abuse. Why not? Jessica had already died of the abuse once anyway. That left Nikki to grow up totally free of it and become a much nicer person, but the hidden secret also turned her into an alcoholic.

The twist here seems to be that, although the psychological aspect is old hat, it's Jessica, or at least the Jessica-personality, that has the Hero-power (super strength), rather than Nikki. This, too, is perfectly compatible with multiple personality theory, in which some "alters" will suffer from allergies, for instance, that others don't.

I'm truly sorry we lost Charlie, the waitress. She was one of the more endearing characters, I thought, and a good match for Hiro, although that would have left friend Ando out in the cold, I guess.

I got my answer to the question of why the Compeller (is her name Eve?) has to do everything Cheerleader!Dad says. Now I wonder, is the power of CD's mysterious friend that he is able to neutralize all the powers of the other heroes? He stopped the Compeller from compelling, and he put Sylar down with one hand.

Because I missed the first six eps, this one was reassuring for me. I'll go for the next one now.

;o)

The Compeller's name is Eden. And I don't know if you hae access to SciFi channel but they'llbeing doing a marathon of the show once it's over, I think.

There was something about a marathon after next week's ep and before any more new ones mentioned last night. But I missed the details.

I think the only major thing you may be missing is that the politician cheated on his now crippled wife with Jessica, after Nikki considered it, but thought better of it.

...& that Linderman[?]'s minions used Niki's debt to him to coerce her to do it...under cameras planted in the hotel room.

Hee, well put! Even more so when it comes to the "science"--frankly, I'd rather they didn't even try to pretend there was a scientific basis for the heroes' abilities than give us all this bull-...gut contents. Evolution is never going to enable any life form to violate the laws of physics. What it does is let us make better use of those laws & the rest of the context of whatever niche we occupy. Unfortunately, the thing's written so they need some scientist characters to pull the other characters & the plot elements together.

Yeah - heroes entertains me but it's still cotton candy thin.
