Worth waiting for

I enjoy my garden. But saying I'm much of a gardener would be an overstatement. I have a lot cacti because they are easy to take care of without a lot of work or water. They thrive more on neglect than pampering. This, however, is one of the blooms I do look forward to every year. I've been watching the buds on this one more carefully than I do many of the others

This cactus is a variety of the ones with the pink flowers back here. These purple ones bloom a little later because they don't get direct sun at all in the winter because of my back wall. The leafy plant above it is not dead. It's a very health sage that helps keep the cactus from burning up in the summer sun. The long slender leaves on the ground are from the olive trees in the little park behind my fence.

That's lovely! Great picture with the soft shades of green and brown, highlighting the intenseness of the purple flower.
