superplin and I grew up yesterday. The school I went to for 5th and 6th grade was closed yesterday and today. The tornado was less than a half mile from where my brother's family used to live, and the schools my nieces and nephews attended were also closed due to power outage . No one seems to have been hurt, but about 60 houses and apartment units were damaged and several made uninhabitable. There are a lot of houses right in that area. It could have been a lot worse.
ETA: Come to think of it, the old school (long since closed) where I went to 1st grade must have been within walking distance of the tornado's path.
