Out of curiosity, I watched the pilot of Defiance this morning on the web. It was far better than I expected; kind of a cross between the good parts of BSG and a hero driven version of Firefly. Plenty of dark goodness, but with a positive edge to it all. Lots of good and evil characters and subterfuge to dote on. Even a wink and a nod toward the video gaming world, here and there, that one doesn't need to understand to enjoy the show. I always thought Julie Benz was bad as Darla, but she really shines in positive roles. She plays one of the leaders in the town Defiance. Not 100% original in a lot of ways, but what is these days? I'm glad I gave it a chance. I hope it, stays as good.
