Sour Grapes Part II

So it looks like the business with Anderson leaving got a little ugly toward the end. From what I read last night I can infer that the Missouri AD decided he was being played by Anderson's agent, and that the negotiations for a raise and a contract extension were just a ploy to get more money out of Arkansas. So when this past Tuesday came around the AD did not submit the new contract to the Curators which would have given Anderson's agent a firm competing offer to wave under Arkansas' nose. Instead, when Anderson's agent called that day to ask formal permission to talk to Arkansas, permission was given with the stipulation that the new contract they had been negotiating would be off the table. Translation - Not only was Missouri not going to get into a bidding war, but Anderson was pretty much invited to leave. Very far from a firing contractually, but in fact it seems the Missouri AD was already making plans for a replacement. Oh yeah, Anderson still gets to return most of the raise he'll get his first year at Arkansas to Missouri for breaking his old contract.

I think it's fair of Mizzou, if that's the case. Anderson was always linked to a potential Arkansas hire... and I guess it's not a huge surprise if he wants to go "home" - but he could have done that more amicably.
