I think I've just seen too much TV in my life

You are right, Dub. They spent a lot of money on that episode of the Surface and it did look more like a movie than a TV show at times. On the other hand I had trouble getting into to it. They did everything right, as far as I could see and it just didn't get me going. I can't blame them for my ennui!

I switched after a half-hour and watched Kitchen Confidential. It was much better than I thought it would be. A lot of money was spent on it as well. But I still can't see how it has any future. How many kitchen sight-gags/bad-behavior-gags will people really want to see? They seem to have gotten rid of the one interesting female character in the pilot.

CBS was running on a slightly different schedule. So I got to watch several slices of How I Met My Wife as well. Everytime I switched over N P Harris was making wise cracks just like in the previews. The guy still looks like he's twelve to me. I really don't want to spend much time watching him make young adult wise cracks. At one point Alyson gets out of a taxi and says she's reached her limit with NPH's character's banter. Me too, unfortunately. It definely could be a show that will be on years from now that I still will never have watched a full episode of. Much like Everybody Loves Raymond was it may be clever as heck, but it doesn't do anything for me.

Finally, I watched the premiere of Medium after I gave up on it late last season. It wasn't a bad episode at all, but the show has lost it's appeal for me. I kept asking myself "She won an Emmy for this part?" It's not that P Arquette is at all substandard in it. She's fine. I just don't think it's a part that requires much acting skill.

So in summary, I think I saw at least pieces of four decent shows people will be watching happily for awhile. But I doubt I'll have the TV on next Monday evening.

Hey, don't diss the Neil. He's on my short list of huge actor crushes. ;-)

I think he can act, (and obviously he must be cute!) just not too thrilled with the role he's playing here.

I think that is going to be a rough time slot.

I think so too. My reasoning? The dread Monday Night Football.

I would be very surprised if either survive to a second season.

I dunno. CBS has been pretty consistently successful the past few years of sustaining sitcoms, even ones it doesn't seem like anyone wants to watch. That Charlie Sheen/Jon Cryer show, Two and a Half Men? Still on. That awful family sitcom, Yes Dear? Still on. The King of Queens? Still on. It's the only network that can produce a hit traditional sitcom at the moment, IMO.

Hmmm. That's a good point, yes. I guess I'll have to reign in my cynical side. ;)

Aw, stay cynical. I hate to be the only one...

;o)

We can be cynical together then!

I find it amusing to watch a gay actor so convincingly play such an over-the-top heterosexual one. The scene where he plants a kiss on Jason Segal was a great in-joke.

Happy birthday! (one day late)

Thanks!

Oh, I understand, believe me. For some reason, this one just hooked me, right from the start. I think I'm going to give Supernatural a try tonight. I missed the premiere, but a few people have referred to it as The Buffy Boys, so I guess I'd better at least take a look. Bones first, of course!

;o)

Bones is good again tonight!

Oh, I still have to watch Bones! Taped it.
I tried to watch Kitchen Confidential. Lasted maybe 10 minutes, and couldn't find anything funny in it. No thanks.
I've watched 2 episodes of Supernatural..not bad so far.
Gave up on Medium long time ago.
