Happy birthday to...
I was out watering this morning and noticed that the grass around the agave of my icon is gone for a few weeks. So I decided to take a picture of it to show the little offshoot that's been growing for sometime.

It was only when I had the picture in the computer that I noticed that the agave has just sprouted a second offshoot (barely visible just off lower right hand corner of the large agave). So Santagave is now the proud parent of two kids. I'm pretty happy this morning. Those whitish spots on the leaves of the main plant just mean that those leaves are about to turn brown and wither so that new leaves can grow from the middle. It's a natural part of the growth cycle. - The plant has gotten about 2" bigger around every year. It's about one foot across now and should get to be 2 to 3 feet across before it blooms.
Obviously I like this kind of agave. So when the little ones get big enough I'll move them elsewhere in the yard to have more and keep things looking tidier.

Things I love.
For some reason, I thought it was much smaller.
The symmetry.
The leaves, both the shape and the black (spines?)
