I made the trek to the baseball stadium for spring training tickets, this morning. Last year we had more going with us so it made better sense to pay a handling fee and order them early by mail. The seats I got aren't quite as centrally located, as last year. But they are not too bad. The stadium is just up the street from me, literally on the way to the mall.

We have two teams that play in spring with our local stadium as home base, the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The Mariners haven't been much good the last few years, although they have avid fans. The Padres were good last year, but they don't have a huge fan base and they have traded away a number of their good players this winter. There is supposed to be an international baseball tournament in the Phoenix area at the same time this year, so some of the schedules are a little different than usual. The net result is that it was probably easier than usual to get good seats for Phoenix's real home team, the Arizona Diamondbacks' spring games here in Peoria.

I stopped by Sprouts market on the way home for some fruit. Early Sunday was a good time to shop, but I doubt I'll be doing it again very often.

Oh my goodness, the Seattle Mariners?! David refers to them as "our" team (not that I watch baseball myself, but I hear about it--oh boy, do i hear about it!).

A lot of people come from Washington State and B.C. every year to watch the Mariners in the spring, and enjoy the warm weather. The year the Mariners first signed their Japanese star Ichiro, there were all kinds of news people from Japan at their games.

I know that name! I've been hearing about Ichiro for a couple of years now.

Baseball in winter! What a dream. Football just doesn't do it for me, and while I love basketball, it's much too tension-producing to watch much of. I envy you--and kind of like the Padres (if only they were from Chicago).
