Blooms of the day.

I spared you all the late summer barrel blooms, which I like but are all similar except for color.

Look close or you'll miss the plant that goes with the flowers. It's one of a few cacti known as living rock. This is a fairly rare plant from Mexico, grown from seed locally. These are today's blooms

This one is not so rare. The spines are about as pretty as the flowers. This plant is about the size of an orange. It bloomed early this month.

Whoa. Nice camoflage on the "living rock!" Without the blooms, I'd imagine it gets stepped on a lot in it's natural environment.
