Yellow flowers

These flowers are fairly similar
But the plants are different. This first one is a Parodia from Southern Brazil. I haven't had much luck with the smaller species of Parodia, but the larger ones do nicely, here. I like the shape of the ribs and the spines that don't hide the plant. I have common lizards in my yard, but that's the rare, speckled blue-plastic lizard crawing out of the bowl. ;o)

Parodia schmanniana claviseps

This is one is a type of barrel cactus from Mexco. Fewer ribs and larger spines.

I love seeing these CW. The Parodia picture looks very cool on my old screen here. The flower and spines/ribs are similar in color, and the effect is quite nice. (Not sure if that is my screen or what.)

I love the rounded tips of the petals on the Parodia. Like a lop-eared rabbit.
