After reading [livejournal.com profile] midnightsjane's wonderful Christmas eve story, my mind drifted to the one horse open sleighs of Jingle Bells. From there I looked up the author of Jingle Bells, James Pierpont on Google.

the source

Lots of interesting stuff. Jingle Bells was probably written in 'snowy' Georgia. Pierpont was a rebel in more ways than one. From a Unitarian family, not surprisingly, he wrote the most famous non-religious song associated with Christmas.

That is very interesting!
I've never really thought about the authorship of songs like "Jingle Bells"...they've just always been there.
Pierpont does sound like quite the character.
Thanks, CW.
I'm pleased you enjoyed my little story...you and all the other writers are so inspiring to me, I am brave enough to dip my toes into the writing pool.

BTW, I haven't had a chance to get to read the story you sent me yet. It's on my list, hopefully this weekend. I've been saving it for the day when I haven't got a lot to do, so I can pay it the proper attention.

Thnaks for not forgetting about it. When you do read it, tell Wisewoman. She keeps telling me she wants someone else to talk about it with!
