Ever practical, the St. Louis newspaper, last week, suggested it was time for the Rams to think about going 0-14 so they could get the top pick in the player draft this year. Sure enough they got 'upset' this week and are now 1-8.
Counting the chickens before they hatch: People are starting to say that if Kansas wins out they should be in the Championship game. Maybe so, but these people need to think about what they are saying. If by winning the Big XII Championship Kansas should go to the BCS Championship, why wouldn't that be true of Oklahoma or Mizzou? Honestly, as a Mizzou fan, I'd rather not see MU in the BCS Championship this year. I think they'll actually be better off next year, if they aren't. But KU or OU? I'd have a harder time voting for LSU after beating Tennessee in their Championship, than I would OU or KU. If LSU wins out and beats Georgia, it's a tougher call. Oregon still has to play UCLA, which has been excellent and awful on alternate weeks. Should either LSU or Oregon lose, do people really want to give a slot for the BCS Championship now to the Big 12 champions, whoever that may be?
I knew it weeks ago, but there is still time to say it. Kansas is undoubtably ruing the decision to move the KU-MU game to Kansas City. KU has been trying to play down the MU rivalry for years, thinking they would never both be good enough at the same time to make it a big game, again. MU has been sticking to tradition. Now with a chance at big things, KU finds itself against a team that wants to tear them apart more than anything not in Lawrence, but in KC. St. Louis is fairly detached about MU. (Rah, rah! Bullah, bullah! Okay, who else is playing today?) But KC is the home of the truly rabid MU fans (KU is $&*%^#! #*%^#* the Jawhawks!) KU will have half fans there and a nice big pay day. But I still think they are wishing now the game was in Lawrence!
Believe it or not, the winner of the Nebraska-Colorado game probably goes to a bowl this year. On Nebraska radio last weekend the announcers were hinting around about how much the *players* wanted to go this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Osborn has been holding off on firing Callahan because of this. The man can count, after all. I wouldn't be surprised whether Nebraska beats Colorado or not, Callahan will be fired immediately.
ETA: We all thought the Big XII South was far superior to the North before the season started. With the MU and KU wins this past weekend, the final tally of the two divisions against each other: North 10 wins, South 8 wins.
