A Russian company bought LJ. You should check scrollgirl's journal for the details and how to get rid of all the warnings, when you read your friend's list.

Basically you have to tell LJ in your info that you are over 14, and click a few boxes. You don't have to have your birth year showing on your info page if you don't want it.
