Ever come home and find the garage door open when you know you closed it? It happened to me this afternoon. I could tell at a glance nothing was missing, so I just pulled into the garage, I got out and pushed the button and the door went down nicely. It hesitated a second then went back up again. Seems the door got itself out of adjustment so it was opening as soon as it was closed. Fortunately, I had the manual and all it took was about a third of a turn with a screw driver and now it works fine.
Another minor problem solved - Yesterday evening I tried playing my new toy again. I had all kinds of problems with the neck not feeling right in my hand. It felt like blisters were a distinct possibility. This morning I realized I couldn't expect both to support the heavy neck and to fret the notes with just my hand. So I swipe a strap off one of the mandolins that didn't terribly need a strap and voila, no discomfort at all, and much less problem reaching for notes.
Live and learn.
