Getting your priorities straight.

Most of you could care less about American college football. But something interesting came up this afternoon. It is a long tradition (close to 50 years now) that when a school's football team gets on TV they get free commercial time to advertise and promote the rest of the school to prospective students. This afternoon one of the national networks showed as a local game in the west, a contest between the University of Nevada-Reno and San Jose State, a couple of teams from a lesser conference which very rarely get the chance to be on TV. Nevada's self promotion effort was the usual display of research and professors. But interestingly at the end in big italics they proclaimed Just minutes from beautiful Lake Tahoe. I guess it's better than "Convenient to the Casinos."
