As I told
masqthephlsphr the other day, the monsoon, a seasonal change in the wind direction, has begun here. We've already had the first mild storm blow through. The 'official' beginning of the monsoon for the meteorological records has to do with three straight days of humidity (actually dew point) above a certain level. That level is different from place to place and obviously the weathermen can only be sure that's happening three days after it begins with that kind of definition. For the last few years there have been quirks in the weather that have kept the 'official' start off till well after the wind pattern has shifted and the first typical monsoon storms have occurred. Tired of beginning the 'last to know' the meteorologists are discussing changing the definition of the official start.
I'm cruel, but I love it when scientists have to admit official terminology sometimes just gets in the way.
