It rained really well during the night at my house for the first time since the beginning of July. This time, as summer is cooling off toward winter, is when a lot of the desert plants grow the most. That includes our famous giant saguaro. It didn't look like the barrel cacti were going to bloom at all this year. But this rain may change that. I expect the sage to bloom and be very pretty in a few days.

We don't really have fall here, it's more of a second spring. The leaves mostly fall in December or January when we get a touch of freezing weather in the morning.

My little town has decided it needs a signature festival to put it on the map. They think a festival of arts will do the trick. The arts would set our little Peoria apart from all the other suburbs. Shh, nobody mention that Scottsdale on the other side of town is known far and wide for arts and one big party every year won't change that. The locals seem so happy, planning their little festival. The truth would just break their poor little hearts.

There was an article on MSN.com about women finding dogs a better substitute for the prefect man. Let's see; dogs sneak around behind your back, growl when they're unhappy, don't seem to care when they make a mess of the place, and pretend very inexpertly that nothing happened when they've done something really bad. Yeah, that's the perfect man! (Inspired by the Soulfulspike's dog Chloe who decided it would be fun to chew her way into a plastic bottle of food supplement pills the other day while 'mom' was out.)
