We have a second gloomy, rainy weekend in a row here. Just like everywhere else, it seems rain seems to like to fall, just when people have time to be outside enjoying nice weather.
I turned on the furnace for only the second time this fall, this morning. It's starting to get down into the 40's regularly in the morning. Too regularly to tough it out any longer. The house ceilings here aren't insulated like the ones where the temperatures stay below freezing all day. The high ceilings that are easy on the air-conditioning bill are pretty hard on the heating bill. At least it's only for two or two and a half months at most.
Mostly I have to watch out for freezing temperatures for the next month. The cacti don't like hard frost. Last winter was bad, so chances are this winter will be better.
On winter mornings here, you see some people running around in shorts and some in heavy jackets at the same time in the same places. Both are probably uncomfortable in their own ways dressed like that.
