Thanks to the press, the general publics' understanding of Steve Jobs' actual contributions to the tech revolution is for both better and worse distorted beyond all recognition. But we should all remember him for an idea that genuinely was his: donating thousands of Apple II computers to schools back at the beginning. Putting the new technology directly in the hands of eager kids who otherwise wouldn't have been able to enjoy it, not only sowed the seeds of the huge enterprise Apple Computer is today, but drove the tech revolution forward faster than anyone imagined it could have moved.
