I read this headline on-line this morning: Phoenix school balks over having to face girl in Arizona title game

A 'fundamentalist Catholic' high school from the city forfeited the state championship rather than play a baseball game against a suburban team because they were going to let a girl play. I can easily understand why a very conservative school wouldn't want their boys to participate in full contact sports against girls. But baseball? Ridiculous!

It turns out the same two schools played twice during the season. The suburban school agreed to keep the girl out of those games because of the other school's beliefs. But they didn't feel it was fair to keep the girl out of the state championship game, and they let their opponents know ahead of time. So the fundamentalist Catholic school refused to play... By the way the religious school lost both of the games they did play in the season without the girl, who was the suburban team's starting second baseman.

I own one season of M*A*S*H on DVD. For no real reason I decided to watch it this week, starting last Sunday. Then Rosalind Chao (Klinger's eventual bride Soon Li, and later O'brien's wife on DS9) was on Bones on Monday. It made me realize how long ago M*A*S*H was on. I saw a actor on the DVD, Warren Stevens, who used to be one of my favorites, though he rarely played the lead in anything. I figured he'd probably died years ago. I looked him up on Google and discovered he only passed away this March. Then in one of the scenes in the office, what should be on Radar's bed, but a copy of an original The Avengers comic book. I wonder if anyone, 30 years from now, will have similar experiences with Buffy.
