I mentioned to a couple people I had an advance notice of an over-large bill come by e-mail on my birthday. Unfortunately the bill wasn't broken down so I could tell what was wrong. The paper bill didn't arrive till Saturday. It was easy enough to see the mistake, when it was all spelled out. I had to wait till this morning to call the company. They instantly agreed with me about the mistake and it's taken care of.

I would advise everyone to avoid so called "easy pay" schemes through the Internet. Paying your bills through your bank on-line is a very different matter. But allowing any business to charge your credit card or check card for whatever they feel like without giving you a full account of what they are charging you for, will eventually bite you. Doing things to help corporations save a nickel at the expense of giant headaches is foolish. If Congress had any sense it would help the post office by requiring all utilities and businesses with running accounts to send out paper statements every billing cycle even if they charge your bank or card account directly.
