I thought the show was a pretty fun romp. I'm glad to see others are concerned about TV playing fast and loose with the truth, but I'm not nearly as unhappy as this reviewer - Wrong as Reign.
Some facts
Caterina de Medici was not a nice person to have as your enemy.
At some point, Nostradamus was a favorite of Caterina de Medici.
Spoiler alert (wink, wink) - Mary and Francis were married in 1558 when she was 15 and he was 14.
Mary was one of history's most famous redheads.
While I'm not positive, I do think it's safe to say that none of the Frenchmen or Scots at the Court of Henry II of France spoke with English accents.
Francis is described historically as "sickly and weak-minded."
No one in France was worried about a possible alliance with Scotland. Scotland had been under the thumb of France since Mary's father James V died. Mary's mother Marie of Guise was ruling the country, which was why young Queen Mary was shipped off to France to be out of the way. Marie of Guise was the sister of Duke Francis of Guise who would have made (may yet make) a nice historically accurate conspirator for the show.
The French court was known for a lot of sleeping around. One of the items brought up against Anne Boleyn at her trial was that she'd spent quite a bit of time there.
Score for the Reign pilot - B
