It's the time of the year before the TV season ends when all the strange/weak/lame toss-in episodes get shown.

Last week on Reign, they got rid of a character that apparently didn't turn out the way they wanted. It was a long meandering story of how Catherine got out of the dungeon long enough to witness what happened. About half the episode was Catherine and Mary threatening each other, more proving how really powerless they both are than anything. The worst part was Catherine pretending to hang herself as part of the plot to escape. The problem was there was no way for her to get herself off the ground in the scene without 'help.' But nobody was rushing around trying to figure out who had hanged the queen, since we were supposed to assume Catherine had done it to herself.

Awhile back there was an episode of Castle that was mostly all Rick. Last night we got a mostly Beckett episode. Really tense and exciting, but thinking back on it, not one thing in the plot made a bit of sense. It was supposed to be convoluted, but in fact it just turned out to be senseless. I think most of us frequent viewers figured out the Big Bad long before the reveal. But why any of it was supposed to have happened I have no idea. Was the Big Bad totally brainless, exposing his whole giant scheme? Did he intend Beckett to be in the middle of it? Did he want to kill off his low level loyal minion all along? Everything that happened could have been much simpler and straight forward. Yeah, the Big Bad is supposed to be devious, but from the way the story went last night, he is closer to screwball than smart.
