Brits Beware!

I didn't embed this episode of Dodger's youtube vlog, because it's long, meandering, and mostly very skipable, but about 4:50 there is an incident those of you who were at Lake Tahoe with ATPo will easily appreciate. Dodger takes her British boyfriend Sam out in Palm Desert, CA this past weekend to meet her folks. They take a side trip to meet an aunt and uncle who own a pool. It's beautiful spring weather in the desert. Everyone goes swimming. Sam goes in the house for a minute and on the way out forgets about the screen door. Boom! Embarrassing enough, but later in the day, he forgets again. Boom!

We have flies and mosquitoes here, but we like the outside air when it's cool. Most screen doors are perfectly visible, but some are hard to see. Moral of this story and the one from Lake Tahoe: Britons approach what appear to be wide-open American doorways carefully. Americans blunder into their own screen doors, too, sometimes. But rarely so forcefully as our British guests.
