I was discussing some family pictures with my niece recently, and I was reminded of a strange habit I have. We were talking about someone we both recognized in the picture, then I said something like, to her left is Aunt So-and-so. Then my niece had to ask, "Do you mean to the left of her or to the right of her?" For some reason I always put myself in the position of the person in the photo and talk from his or her perspective not from the perspective of myself looking at the photo. So it was "...to her left, our right." I only did it once the other day. But I keep doing this involuntarily with photos even though it confuses everyone.
