I had a coyote run across the road in from of me this morning. It's too bad they are a nuisance, because they can be quite pretty.
I've said before that when my cat is trying to get my attention, I can tell him "show me what you want," and he will lead me to it. This morning probably confused him. He led me to his food dish. There was food in it, but not the kind he wanted.
His diet is more complex than necessary I suppose. He gets a big spoon of canned food every day, which is his favorite. Cats' teeth do better if that's not all they get, so I give him most of his food in kibble. He's an indoor cat so half of his kibble is indoor cat food, the other half is generic. I suspect the indoor dry food is slightly laxative, because it keeps him from having hair balls. If the cat had his way he'd get all generic and throw up hairballs more often. As the one who cleans up the mess, I try to keep track of how much indoor food he is actually eating.
So this morning although I guessed he was asking for something else to eat besides indoor cat food, I walked away and ignored him. From the next room I heard him eating his indoor food. A few minutes later I went back to where his dish is and saw his food was gone except for a stray piece or two. Good Boy! Being a softy I went to the cupboard and got him the generic food he wanted in the first place. He ate that up quickly leaving the same stray piece or two of indoor food. I think we both came off happy in the end.
