There was so much smoke in the air to the north I couldn't see the mountain at all when I looked out yesterday. To the south the sky was mostly clear. There is less smoke this morning, but it's not a lot better. The scary thing is that there are two bigger fires in the state now, one just northeast of Phoenix and the other at the highway junction north of the Grand Canyon. It does not look like there will be monsoon rains till sometime in July.

Mother nature abhors family reunion: Today was planned as the start of our four-day family camp-out and reunion. Reservations were made for the camp site late last year. Ignoring the virus, guess where our camp site was. Yep, up high on the mountain that can hardly be seen for the smoke. Yep, in the evacuation zone. Ignoring the fire, it was pretty clear we weren't going to meet due to the virus. No need to formally cancel this year; not too mysteriously, everyone somehow knew. Maybe next year?

There were a lot fewer people in the store this morning than last week. Did all those folks who weren't wearing a mask last week just stay home, because they are now required? Because they couldn't figure out, yet, how they could cover their faces with cloth? Because they all caught the virus from not protecting themselves last week? Because they all are still on their way back from the gigantic, record breaking, Trump rally in Tulsa? [/sarcasm] The closest thing I saw to someone not wearing a mask was a guy who pulled his mask down the instant he stepped out of the store, and before he was clear of the crowd (mostly employees) in the entrance. Since everybody else was covered, it wasn't exactly a problem, but it wasn't wise.

There were quite a few employees collecting food to deliver in the parking lot, but no cars in the pick-up area even as I was leaving. I suppose pick-ups couldn't be scheduled quite that early, but were about to start. I suppose they pull food from the freezers only after the patron arrives and phones in?
