Weird stuff happening today. I looked out this morning and noticed a lizard sunning itself high atop the back wall. Not terribly new or exciting, but I noticed a different kind of lizard making its way up the wall toward the first. The second reached the top and proceeded to crawl over the first lizard head-to-head. At this point a hummingbird flew up from my side of the wall, and appeared to take a good look at the lizards. Everyone seemed to be friends. The second lizard crawled onward to my neighbors side of the wall. The first didn't move and the hummingbird flew backdown into my grape vines, which seem to attract them. (It's a little scary tending the vines when one of them flies by just out of view. Of course, hummingbirds are totally harmless, but flying near your head it sounds like a monstrous wasp!)

I got a notice from my phone company by email this afternoon that I hadn't paid my bill this month. But I knew I had. I checked my bank on-line and they showed they'd delivered the payment. After trying unsuccessfully to get through to the phone company on-line, I called them up. Of course, it was an automated system, but I got it to tell me how much I owed. It was the princely sum of $0.02. I'd mistyped when I submitted the payment last month!

Microsoft is trying to tell me, now, there is a heat warning. Must be a generic warning. It's only 101 F here today, and in the desert that's hardly worth mentioning. It's supposed to get up to 110 F (43C) both days this weekend. Now, that will be unpleasant! Both here and in Phoenix I tell people I don't complain till the temperature gets above 105.
