On the local news this evening the meteorologist was mostly talking about the temps getting up to 100 F again today, and not much chance of rain till this weekend. It rained briefly at my house about a half hour later, then about a quarter to eight it started raining again and this time it was raining bucketsful. Looking at the radar after it was over, I'm not sure either of my nieces in town got any. Not surprisingly there are flash flood warnings down stream from the mountains on this side of town.
ETA August 3rd: It was a true gully washer. I got out this morning to discover the start of a gully worn into the lawn between the front downspout and the sidewalk. There was gravel from my yard all over the sidewalks along both streets. I refilled the gully with gravel and put in a few larger rocks to hopefully act as gravel traps for the next time it might rain that hard! Oh yes, having watched the radar record after the storm last night I truly doubt my niece who lives a few miles to the west of me got any rain!
