For the second time in my life I stumbled into a store closing sale, this morning. Missouri has very strict rules about going out of business. It used to be that stores could have scam "going-out-of-business sales" run for years and years and the store just never actually closed, tricking people into thinking they were getting bargains, when they were not. In Missouri, if you advertise your store is going out of business, it must within a given time. If it doesn't the state steps in very quickly. Locations of chain stores could close, but that wasn't strictly going out of business.
Today, it was just a Bed Bath and Beyond location closing, but clearly they'd brought in slow moving stuff from other locations to unload. I'd been in the place a couple times since I moved here, but hadn't found what I was looking for then. I'd heard Bed Bath and Beyond was closing some locations in this state, but hadn't heard the local one was going.
I was looking for a cheap table cloth and found an acceptable one the right size for my table in the library. My old one is about ten years old and won't come completely clean anymore (which is why I buy cheap table clothes!) I also bought a large cookie spatula, which I think might work better for turning eggs than the regular spatulas I own. The discounts were okay, but nothing to brag about. By next week I probably couldn't get the right size table cloth there, though they seemed to have plenty of cookie spatulas.
