If you call someone and they answer before the phone starts to ring, both of you will be astonished. (Immediately, and I mean immediately, after I dialed my sister's number she picked up the phone to call me)

It's easier to give medicine to a dog that's a chowhound (poor Buffy), than one that's a picky eater.

Is that the first time that's happened to you? Probably happens to me a few times a year.

I don't call that many people. Especially that want to call me. ;o)

That has to be annoying if the person being called really picked up the phone to call someone else!

On the 1st, I don't think I've ever picked up the phone w/out its ringing & there was someone on the other end, although I'm not totally sure of that. Several times, though, I have picked up the phone on the 1st ring & had the person on the other end be very surprised, because they didn't hear a ring tone on their end, or vice versa. And once I'd just moved to a new place & went to call my best friend from the new apt. for the 1st time, & the phone rang while I had my hand on the receiver but hadn't picked it up yet--& it was her!

On the 2nd, the same is true of cats. I could always get Quizzical to take even the worst-tasting medicine by rolling some canned food around the pill & not giving her anything else till she ate it, but it was nowhere near that "easy" with Runcible. I'm glad to say I haven't had too much of a chance to find out how that goes with Lil--the only time she needed medicine, it was liquid. I squeezed the eyedropper over her dry food, & she ate it. I guess that means it didn't taste too bad.

Actually I have picked up the phone when it wasn't ringing and there was someone on the other end. But it was some kind of electronic foul up. They weren't trying to dial my number.

When I was a kid we still had a phone with a 2-party line. My grandmother's house had a phone with a crank instead of a dial and multiple-party line. The phone would start ringing and everyone would be quiet for an instant until they were sure the number of long and short rings wasn't for them. I think her ring was two longs and a short.
