All the signs are in place.
Boston won the baseball World Series.
Last night when I was changing the strings on my favorite mandolin, it's wooden top cracked with a bang.
Early this morning the goose-neck table lamp in my computer room, decided to sag and break.
Just now two Jehovah's Witnesses came to the door and I didn't say "No thanks." and shut the door as soon as I saw one of them had a copy of the Watchtower.
Oh, ye nations, repent!!! Judgement day is at hand!!!
Well, there's always next year for baseball, although if I can find one I'll wear a 'Breakup the Red Sox!' button.
It's really sad about my mandolin. I shouldn't play it unless and until I get it fixed. It would probably cost more than it's worth to fix it, and way more than I paid for it originally. But, I've had it for nearly thirty years, it's the one I learned to play on, it sounded great, and there'll never be a new one like it again. Okay, I confess, I ordered a slightly different new one this morning. But don't be too surprised if I get my old one fixed someday soon. If I don't, It's pretty enough to go on the wall somewhere in the house. I'm not giving it up!
Instant update - - - What do fundamentalist's have against trick-or-treating?? I just had someone from another church stick a card in the door announcing a church Harvest Festival on Halloween evening. It's Halloween folks! Hallloween parties are fine, but call it Halloween. God won't curse you for it! - Slightly OT. I understand the Mormon kids are being asked to go trick-or-treating tonight around here because Halloween is Sunday. Sheesh!
My lamp is already on the mend. It was a plastic casing that broke from stress rather than heat and I'm a great believer in epoxy. I ought to tell that to the door-to-door church folks!
Thanks to Rahael's post yesterday, I decided to be nice to the the Jehovah's Witnesses. I'll even read the pamphlet they left. It's not going to threaten my beliefs to see what others are thinking.
I didn't have to be nice to the lady who stuck the card in the door. She politely left to put one in the doors on the rest of the block before I could get up. (My computer room overlooks the entry way, so if like today, I have the blinds open I can see who is at the front door.)
Hope everyone's day will be better than my past few days have been! But despite the crummy things I mentioned and others this week I haven't, I feel pretty good. Don't ask why, cause I don't know.
