I decided to skip watching the reruns over the past few weeks, which worked out well watching last night. But I've forgotten most of the names of the characters so I have to keep a list open in front of me as I type this. (Which unfortunately just spoiled me for something, blast it! Avoid Wikipedia if you don't like spoilers!)
This season we learn Mary looks awful in red (one thing actress Michelle Dockery and I share). More importantly we learn that in 1920 in England:
Saying, "I'm an American" solved all sorts of awkward social problems, while saying, "I'm an Irishman" did not.
It was easy to be so rich that you couldn't wear what you darn-well pleased to the dinner table.
It was a bad idea to invest in new North American railroad projects. (If they'd invested in American rail companies building furiously then, instead instead of the Canadian Grand Trunk, they'd have had the same result.)
Matthew is still so honorable you'd like to knock some sense into him. Wouldn't it be all right if he gave the inheritance to his father-in-law and then promised to sulk annoyingly every time he was in the house?
Edith was getting altogether too attractive to be sitting around moping about being plain anymore.
John Bates is not an ideal cell mate for incorrigible tough guys.
