Tonight I heard the phrase "cameras were rolling..." to introduce a video segment. I'd complain that the news hasn't been using cameras with film for quite a while, but I personally don't know a good way to replace the phrase. "Cameras were on..." sounds a little weak. I don't know what to do about obsolete phrases like "caught on film" and "caught on tape." But I presume sooner or later they will go away like cranks on automobiles.

Perhaps. But we've talked about dialing up someone's number long after rotary phones went away. I'm struggling to think of others off the top of my head, but there are plenty others.

The "Save" icon, on most software, is still represented by the image of a floppy disk.
