The Chinese government is upset that His High Orangeness referred to the virus as the Chinese virus. Word is that China spent good money bribing key folks in the WHO not to call it "Wuhan flu" or "China virus." A word to Beijing: You want to be a first-world country? Act like it! Clean up your country's sanitation problems, *then* worry about not getting blamed for one epidemic after another.

Arizona's Democratic Presidential Primary is officially today. Unlike some other states there really was no talk of postponing it, because the majority of all votes here have already been cast by mail, sent in as much as a month ago. Since the ballot contained 18 names all but two of whom aren't trying anymore, we might have some odd sounding results. People who got mail in ballots, but didn't mail them, can just drop them off today. Those who didn't sign up for mail-in voting will have to do it the old-fashioned way or skip it and not take their chances.

Years ago I was in a longish line at a polling place in firehouse in St. Louis County, a bit concerned about the fact flu was going around. I didn't catch anything, but they say the current virus is more contagious than flu.

Yeah, the current virus has a carrier-pigeon quotient apparently. In that you could have it, and recover from it, and never know it -- yet manage to spread it to lots and lots of people. Rather frightening really. Reminds me of TB, I think, which has a similar situation. Or Heptitis. Polio also did, I think.

And because of that? It spreads like wildfire. That means, it's not just bodily fluids, but contact - such as shaking hands.

Anyhow, I'm wondering what NY will do with its primary on April 28. That is still a ways though.

Agreed on China. They have no environmental regulations or food and drug regs in place, and that's a huge problem. Someone sold produce that was unregulated in a seafood market. Now they are bragging about their health care system - I can see why the Doofus is calling it the China Flu in retaliation. If it weren't for China's lack of regulations - there wouldn't be a pandemic.

The one thing I'll note is that it shouldn't really matter what we call it - and the fact that POTUS and the PRC care so much about naming is an indictment of both... showing that neither care first and foremost about public health.

I mean, you don't see the Spanish government petitioning the world to rechristen the 1918 influenza pandemic the "Kansas Flu"
