I'm still here. I didn't catch anything. Just didn't have much need to post or reply.

[personal profile] shadowkat changed a prompt in her book meme and it didn't suit my mood that day. I thought I'd post some of that meme in my own journal, but my personal "round tuit" seems to have disappeared again.

I must say some of [personal profile] atpo_onm's series on sci-fi book cover art has been a little depressing, mostly because I remember those very covers in the book store and how long ago that was. I have to say I always found one of those covers particularly ugly. I won't say which.

My exercise for today was going in back to cut pads off my tree-sized prickly pear on the east side. I trimmed it last year so I wouldn't have to duck to get to the backyard gate. This year it needed to be done to keep the pads from scraping the house next year or falling on the outdoor fan and coils for the air-conditioner which could be even more expensive to fix. I picked up three big heavy trash bags of pads. (Now my hands stink of lilac thanks to the stupid scented trash bags!) The similar sized prickly pear on the west side of the yard needs a little work too. But that will have to wait for another week. Don't want to overload the trash can.

Trumpery (look it up!):
The day before the election the local news interviewed a local Republican volunteer. The reporter asked her if she believed everything Trump said. Of course a non-committal answer would be something like 'Well, not to get into details, who believes everything any politician says?' But this woman answered with the telling, 'I'd rather not say.'

Then there was the doctor who reported a Covid patient just getting off a ventilator insisting the virus was a hoax. Don't worry fella, the hospital bill will be all too real.

Hey, sorry if any of the covers bummed you, that certainly wasn't the idea. You are welcome to say which one you didn't like, I won't be offended. Art is very subjective, as well you know. You apparently see these book covers and feel your age, if I get your comment correctly, and I see them as kind of an archeological dig that fascinates me.

I get your reaction, I have the same feeling occur with certain things that happen to me that call up past times, often unpredictable.

Hopefully the remainder of them will be more interesting or inspiring for you, but never hesitate to express your honest opinion with me, my friend. You were a big help when I was writing stories for the Angel S6 project, and I learned a number of things that I hope made my writing better.
