So months and months ago, my internet provider (big corporation) sent me a letter saying that very soon they were going to change my payment account number. They were going to send me another letter with all the info. Then I was going to have to be sure to inform my bank to change my e-payment info for the provider. Fine, I'll get that done as soon as I got the promised letter.

I wait a month, no letter, two months, no letter, all summer, no letter. Meanwhile another of my recurring bills does the same thing, but entirely in the same billing cycle (less than a month). With these guys no problem. I get my new account number in days. Get on-line and change everything before I get my next bill.

I'm not exactly worried about the Internet bill, I keep paying as usual for months and keep getting credited. I think it was last Saturday I got a post card from Internet provider, saying I was going to get a letter soon. I get my e-bill as usual yesterday and so I don't forget I set up the payment, figuring everything will change for next month. This morning I got an e-mail from internet provider saying 'Here's your new number; here's our new address; you've got to change everything now!; you must do this!'

Grumble, grumble. I get on the bank site to delete the payment I just arranged. I look at the info the bank has. It's showing the last four digits of the new number. I get into the info for the provider to make sure and yes, the bank already has the whole new number, and instead of finding the place to change the address, the bank says these folks automatically tell them about changes of address.

I suspect in a month or two, I'll receive that letter in the mail.

You remember Dave Letterman's "Stupid Pet Tricks" sketches? Well, here's a recent candidate for a "Stupid Business Tricks" version:

I receive two solicitations from my bank in the mail a few weeks ago, one for my personal VISA account, and one for my business VISA. The one boldly directed at me personally (really, in big bold italic letters--- "Earn up to 20% more Points on purchases" The splainy?

"Use your card for purchases November 1 to December 31, 2021, earn up to 20% more Points (up to 2000 Points) for every dollar you spend after you make $1700 in purchases."

Ooo, whatta deal, eh? Now I get the same offer, but for the business:

"Use your card for purchases November 1 to December 31, 2021, earn up to 50% more Points (up to 2000 Points) for every dollar you spend after you make $50 in purchases."

Ahem, what??

Each missive ends with the cheery, "We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to continuing to serve you."

Uhhm, hm. ~sigh~
