Some friends were discussing their favorite ice cream the other day. I decided it was best not to join in there for a few reasons:
a. I'm not fond of the brand they agreed was their favorite.
b. My favorite brand is local to the southwest.
c. I really can't eat much ice cream any more because I have a hard time keeping my weight down as it is.
My favorite ice cream varies between strawberry and mint-chocolate chip. I was the weird kid who really didn't like chocolate ice cream. I'm not so much against it now, but I'm the weird adult who thinks mocha ice cream (mocha anything, really) is disgusting. At my age I seem to prefer sherbet to regular ice cream; sorbet and gelato are good, too.
Only in Missouri: I happened to run across a blurb for the Nuclear Waste Adventure Trail. Yeah... A quick drive from where I used to live, it was the Weldon Spring Ordanance Works, a major explosives plant during World War II and a good place to give a wide berth to, then a uranium mill which didn't make it any more attractive to the locals. The radiation pollution was all entombed in a giant dome before I left the area for Arizona. Now the grounds are a tourist spot? Well, the last home of Daniel Boone is just down the road...
