1. Have you ever been to summer camp?
Yes. In Boy Scouts. I had my first sub sandwich there. The chief councilor said they were called that because if you went swimming after you ate one, you'd sink.
2. Have you ever made a s'more?
Yes.
3. Have you ever slept under the stars (no tent/tarp)?
On a trip with my sister, her husband and her friend, my brother-in-law and I did it most nights. (The girls slept in the van.) One night at a Grand Canyon campground, the commotion of barking dogs woke me. At the first whiff of the skunk, I knew there was nothing useful to be done till morning. So I pulled my head down into my sleeping bag and went back to sleep. My sister said the next morning there was a long line of women waiting to get into the restroom to wash their hair. That morning was Sunday and we'd planned to go to church services in the park. But we decided for the good of everyone, it was best if we just drove on.
4. What type of bed do you have (queen, twin, bunk, etc.)?
I believe the term is 'full.'
5. If you could retroactively erase one TV show from the history of entertainment, which one would you choose?
Having seen at least couple of shows that only lasted one episode, I'd say either Jackie Gleason's dreadful quiz show You're in the Picture or the racy and zany to the point of being stupid TV version of Animal House could be safely erased without too much objection from any one.
6. Are you more like your mother or your father?
More like my father. I do get a little panicky-excited over small problems sometimes like my mother. But I look like my dad, think like him, and reason through things more like him.
7. If you could take a year-long vacation, what would you do?
I took a couple months' vacation in Europe when I graduated from college. Even if I wasn't retired I think a whole year would just be too much.
8. If you were a crayon, which color would you want to be?
Teal
9. Which color do you think you would be regardless of what you wanted?
Beige
10. Would you rather be used and get blunt, broken and lose your wrapper, or not be used and stay pristine?
I have been used and blunted. Stick to what you know.😊
11. Would you rather be in a small set of crayons or a large set?
Large. It was what I always wanted when I was in grade school.
12. Would you rather be Crayola, or a different brand?
Crayola
13. How often do you typically shower/bath?
Two to three times a week.
14. Do you prefer showering or taking a bath?
Baths, they use less water, and that's important here in AZ.
15. What's the longest you've ever gone without a shower/bath?
A couple weeks.
16. What do you like most: Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays (and why)?
Friday. The weekend is ahead, not mostly or partly behind.
17. Who was your first crush?
On TV it was probably Annette Funicello. But she seemed liked every boy's crush. The first one special to me was an actress Zina Bethune, who played a nurse on a doctor show. Many years later I saw her on TV again and wondered what the heck I'd seen in her. She was a blonde and horse-faced, and my real life girlfriends were all good-looking (if not all as sexy as Annette) brunettes.
18. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert, I faked extrovert when I was teaching.
19. Do you believe in monogamous relationships?
If you believe in fairies clap your hands and save Tinkerbell. Yeah, this question is that silly.
20. What are you reading right now?
I'm translating an Agatha Christie mystery. Translating is a little like keeping your eyes open when kissing someone on the lips. At such close range you can see a lot of things that one ought to ignore.
21. What is your favorite show on TV?
Emergency! from 50 years ago. I have it on during dinner.
22. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
It's been awhile. Probably Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2.
23. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be?
I pretty satisfied, changing something might just make everything worse.
24. If you could save other people's lives by completing an act that would lead to your own death, would you do it?
Everything is relative, so it would depend on who the other person was, how I felt at the moment, etc.
25. Would you commit murder if you knew that you could get away with it?
No. I'm fairly callous, but murder's beyond me.
26. If you were a fruit, which would you be and why?
Probably an American Persimmon. They seem sweet, but they are full of seeds and end up chalkier than you thought they'd be.
27. If you were stuck on an island, who would be the one person you would want with you and why?
Someone with a sturdy boat.
28. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
Reduce the size of my ears.
29. Who was your favorite teacher?
Dr. Burke - college
30. Why was that teacher so special?
She was exactly the kind of teacher I needed. She was sweet, easy going, funny, she became my friend and she taught me how to speak Russian. She even accidently made me realize I had dyslexia. Till she teased me one day when we were chatting together at the Student Union, I thought everyone had exactly the same problems. Suddenly I knew I was a little different.
31. Do you think teachers get paid enough?
Well, the teachers in my family are all psychically encouraging me to use profanity with the word "no." So I guess not.
32. Do you have a favorite year of school?
I had a heck of a nice junior year in high school. But I probably enjoyed grad school more, especially when I was teaching.
33. If you could travel back in time and tell yourself something now that would have helped you get through school, what would you say.
Get out of psychology, now, you Sophomore dummy! Major in something you like and are good at!
34. What disease are you afraid of getting?
I'm old, so pneumonia.
35. Are you a big baby when it comes to taking medicine/shots for your illnesses?
Nope.
37. Would you have the flu twice a month if you were paid $1,000 for having it?
No. But I would have enchiladas twice a month, if some paid me or not.
