A little entertainment from Europe.
This is what we did to liven up the Slavic Night talent show at the old State U. Or what it would be like if Xena were born a Slav. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDfSexj5-B0&mode=related&search=
This is in Ukrainian not Russian. It's Ruslana's act. She's the woman who comes out first. She has an amazingly varied musical talent from straight classical to imaginative stuff like this, which is pretty much all her creation. Among other things Ruslana was elected to the Ukrainian national parliment this year. Ruslana's English accent is a bit thick, so in this version Sogdiana, the taller woman, comes out to help. She's a rising star in her own right from Uzbekistan. There are several versions of this act on Youtube. This one has the best sound, that I found. (Ignoring the costume when Ruslana speaks at the end of the clip she looks and sounds so much like my first Russian professor it's spooky! And my professor's hair was that long without a wig!)
For a change of pace here's a girl group calling itself Fabrika (Factory) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5reKxnyWGUU This one is Russian. That's Natasha up front. By North American standards the music, costumes, and sentiment are about 40 years out of date. But it's still a fun bit of bubblegum.
Finally German guy entertaining "die Frauen" in Greek and German http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJPVeEzjxc odd how it sounds like disco when he starts out in Greek, but sounds like the same old Teutonic quick march when he switches to German.
