Today it's a couple of small plants that sit near the edge of one of my planter areas. They are both the same species of cactus, although it's a varied species for sure. You can't tell it from the photos, but the plant to the left is tall and thin and the one on the right is wide and low to the ground. These have very long spines that grow every which way and collect dead leaves and bits of grass. If you look closely at each picture you'll be able to see some parallel swiggly lines beside the flowers. These are not weed bits, but the ribs of the cactus itself. Some cacti have just a few ribs with spines all up and down them. These have scores of ribs and maybe one or two sets of spines on each rib. These are dependable bloomers and they are a bit prettier than the pictures show.
