Have you noticed the number of blades in non-electric razors keeps growing? Today as an advertising give away I received one in the mail that has five parallel blades in the cartridge plus an extra one on the side for sideburns. I like one blade, maybe two in my razor. Three is probably nice though hardly necessary. Four approaches wasteful. Six approaches comedy. Put a smokestack and an anchor on it and you have a battleship.

I believe SNL did a skit about it in the second or third season about there being five or six as a joke when the two blade razor became popular. Amusing, now that we're there, isn't it?

I was thinking of that same ad parody. I thought the real product was up to 3 blades by then--yes, just remembered it was the "Mach 3"--& SNL's had 5 blades, because "you'll buy anything." How right they were.

Am I the only one who saw the Ziploc ads for the 2-zipper bags & wondered if they were going to go the same way as the multi-blade razors? Next: the triple-zip!
