So Barry Bonds has said he'll boycott the Baseball Hall of Fame if his home run ball is defaced by somebody else who owns it. Uhm, Barry, right now nobody really cares. You aren't eligible for at least five years. There is a good chance you won't be elected on your first try because of all the stuff that made the guy suggest putting the asterisk on that ball... You aren't listening, Barry, are you? What a surprise!

West Virginia must be wondering why with two teams losing in front of them last week, they didn't move up at all in the BCS. Well, basically it's because the computers hate them. With upset specialist South Florida settling back out of the standings, the Big East looks feeble. So, WVa's strength of schedule is vanishing. I would encourage them that the knot of Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri can not last. One of those teams will undoubtably be the Big 12 Champ and deserve one of the top four spots in the rankings. The other two will certainly lose and should most likely be behind the Mountaineers when the final standings are out after the conference championship games.

Who is overrated? Right now I'd have to say LSU. Not much overrated to be sure, but not worthy of either second or third place. LSU has been more lucky than good. The reporters can hype all they want, but the SEC clearly is down from what it has been, this year. Is it a bad conference? No, it's just not THE CONFERENCE any more. If the SEC was as good and balanced as is claimed Alabama would have put LSU away last Saturday, after that colossal fourth down screw up followed by the punt return for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter. You know when you've got reporters claiming that LSU needs to fear Arkansas, that it's just so much hot air. Arkansas isn't all that different than, say, Iowa St. It's a team that if you go to sleep against they will beat you. If you look past them they can give you problems. But 9 times out of 10 a team like this year's Arkansas is not going to be a big threat against a good team. Being in the SEC doesn't make them great. Winning a game last week doesn't make them great.

LSU has a fine record on 4th downs. Grief, great teams don't get in that many 4th down situations. LSU is really good. But great? I don't buy it. On the other hand could they beat Ohio State? Sure, but we don't really know.

Some of the trash being said about Ohio State is justified. The Big 10 is an awfully isolated conference, these days. It plays its own style of football, and change from within is very tough. But Ohio State has done what it needs to do year after year. Whining because they'll take up one spot in the National Championship game if they win out is silly. Blaming OSU for Michigan's defensive problems at the beginning of the year is silly. Saying that neither OSU nor Michigan, as they are in November, could possibly beat a team with a spread offense this year, may be a bit bold.

For the next 43 years Notre Dame's battle cry will be "Remember Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada!"

The Big East looks feeble because it is feeble. And WestVA's non-conference opponents aren't doing them favors. (Maryland's collapse hurts)

Arkansas isn't all that different than, say, Iowa St. It's a team that if you go to sleep against they will beat you.

Who has Iowa State beaten? Colorado is a more apt comparison. Arkansas may have a poor D and no QB, but they do have a fantastic RB tandem.

LSU is talented, but they are escaping with wins on ridiculous gambles against teams they should crush. They are not Ohio State 02-03 winning close because of their style. They are going to lose again.
