Insane Journal is okay, if a little less sophisticated than here. I do miss using semagic over there.

I was in Fry's Electronics yesterday. I was passing by the video camera department while looking for one of those auto navigation helpers, which I didn't actually intend to buy. A video camera with monitor was on display at the end of the aisle. It was slowly panning back and forth. So I stopped and watched it pan back on me. Yipes. I was tired yesterday, but I looked like a very angry old man. Good for keeping salesmen at bay! But I'm not happy I look that mean when I'm just feeling normal and a bit drowsy.

To set up Semagic so you can simultaneously crosspost to multiple journals:

First make certain you have the most recent version of Semagic.

1. Log out of Semagic


2. At the login screen, in the username field type username lj.


3. Now put in your LJ password into the password field. Don't hit enter or click Login yet!


4. Tick both the boxes for Remember Password and Auto-Login.


5. Click the File menu and then Server settings. Make sure www.livejournal.com is selected as the server. Click OK.


6. Click Login.

Now repeat steps 1 - 6 with your other journals, replacing username lj with username clone-abbreviation (gj. ij, jf) and the Server settings with the clone address (e.g. www.insanejournal.com).

Logout one more time. You'll find that at your Login screen, you'll now have multiple login options. You can choose the one you want to use as the default and tick the boxes for Remember Password and Auto-Login. Or you can set it up so that you choose which journal you want each time by not ticking the Auto-Login box.

The most recent version of Semagic allows you to Post to Multiple Journals from the Journal menu. Tick the box for the ones you want to post to.

For example: I have
atpolittlebit lj
littlebitca gj
littlebitca ij
littlebitca lj
littlebitca jf
and I can post to pretty much any combination. (Haven't been able to post to both LJ accounts but that's okay, I try not to cross those streams anyway, heh).

You can f'lock entries and an entry will become f'locked regardless if the journal it's posted to is f'locked by default. Haven't tried filters, so I don't know about those.

If you have icons with the same keywords on each site, it will also let you use them. If one is missing on a given site (and with the discrepancy in numbers of allowed icons, this is likely) it'll just go to the default. Tags are also supported through this.
