The Super Bowl this year is going to be played just a few miles from my house. I'm not much interested in pro football, but the amount of money people are willing to pay to go to the game is astounding. The paper this morning says that round trip plane tickets from Boston (where one of the teams playing comes from) for that week are costing $2700 each! The week after the cost is $363. The cost per night at one of the fancier hotels in Scottsdale will be $700 with a four night minimum! It's not as if the game runs for four days! And Scottsdale is on the far side of town from the stadium!

What stadium are they playing in?

(tells you how much I know about this)

"The University of Phoenix Stadium" in Glendale, where the Arizona Cardinals now play. If you have never heard of the University of Phoenix, it's a chain of night schools that paid to have its name on the stadium.

Oh, I talked to that about someone. Might have been you. Might have been my mom.

If you ever watch the local news, it's the building that looks like a shiny canister-style vacuum cleaner.

Call yourself a bed and breakfast, charge $500 per night, and make a couple of bucks.

I did get a flier stuck under my windshield wiper at the grocery store parking lot, from a broker suggesting those of us in my neighborhood do just that!
